South Metro FCU Ground Breaking
New Shakopee Branch Office
Prior Lake, Minn. Oct.20. South Metro Federal Credit Union (SMFCU) will break ground on Oct. 29 for construction of its new branch office at Southbridge Crossings shopping center in Shakopee.
Ground-breaking ceremonies will be held at noon and last 30 minutes, refreshments will be served and representatives will be available for interviews following the ceremony.
SMFCU President B. Don Crofut said that the new branch office will be approximately 5,600 (+/-) square feet and is expected to open in 2015. The new office and ceremony will be located at 8001 Old Carriage Court, east of the Michael’s store.
“The future Southbridge branch office will complement our existing Main branch in Prior Lake” Crofut said. “It is exciting to have the opportunity to better serve our membership with this additional location at Southbridge Crossings retail development. I believe this location will be the nexus point for retail in northern Scott County for many years.”
South Metro leaders have invited numerous government, business and local dignitaries to join them at the groundbreaking ceremony including the Shakopee Mayor, Brad Tabke, the project’s designers, HTG Architects and the general contractor, Greystone Construction.
Crofut noted that Southbridge Crossings is an ideal location for the new branch office because many of the Credit Union’s 3,600 members already patronize the shopping center, whose retail tenants include Walmart, Michael’s, Pier One, Best Buy, Sam’s Club and Caribou Coffee.
South Metro will continue its Main Branch office at 2573 Credit Union Drive, Prior Lake. Other branch locations include 5767 Egan Drive, Savage and the recently introduced a new Shared Branching drive-up ATM at the intersection of Marschall Road and Eagle Creek in Shakopee.
